We love to celebrate what our pupils achieve both at school and outside of school. It is wonderful to hear the stories of the new skills that they are learning and hobbies that they are enjoying!
Well done to Henry in Reception class who was awarded Man of the Match at his first every training session!
Martial Arts
Sophia in Year 4 recently achieved a 4th Kup belt in her martial arts.
Here is the process in Sophia's words:
I had to do different patterns which I had been learning throughout all of my lessons. For the grading, the judges called out names of the patterns and I had to know these and demonstrate them to show the judges how much I had been practising. They would give marks and tips to us. Getting the tips for what to do better was really helpful.
There are really short names for some of the patterns, but also longer ones to remember! The patterns all have different meanings from where they came from which we have to learn as well. Learning about the meanings has also inspired me to do further research at home.
I would recommend Martial Arts to other pupils because I feel it gives me power. I also find it really interesting. You have fun, but it's also calming.
My favourite move is the down palm pushing block spear finger tip thrust! This is a move if someone was to try a snap kick, which uses one foot and is a quick one. Or you could use it to stop a turning kick, or an outwards crescent kick.
My favourite kicks are rotational and scissors kicks.
