Starfish Malawi is a charitable organisation that we have worked with for over 6 years.
Today, we welcomed Tristan from Starfish Malawi to Oaks. He led a whole school assembly outlining the work of Starfish Malawi.
He also spent additional time with Years 4, 5, and 6 to share more knowledge about Malawi and ask the many questions they had. The pupils were very engaged and are looking forward to connecting future learning with our link school in Sele, Malawi.
Tristan also spent time in Year 1, looking at where Malawi is on the map and answering lots of questions about wildlife and what school is like there. Year 1's current IB PYP inquiry is about communities working together and we are excited to share and learn about how our communities can be the same and also different.
Tristan finished his morning working in Year 3, again, sharing the geographical knowledge about the country and also asking the very inspiring questions from pupils in this year group.
Well done to the pupils who were chosen to receive a certificate in recognition of the Learner Profile Attributes which they have demonstrated through their learning and all aspects of school this week.
This week, we celebrated all pupils for their resilience and determination, especially during assessment week.
Well done also to the pupils who received individual awards for demonstrating our Learner Profile Attributes.
Year 3 won the attendance trophy for this week !
