Career Exploration

Joan Crawford once said, “I think that the most important thing a woman can have -- next to talent, of course -- is her hairdresser.” This is absolutely true. Being able to help people feel good about themselves is one of my passions and I was able to share my talents through Cosmetology. I hope to use my cosmetology to assist me in getting my business management degree and one day be a CEO of a cosmetic company. I chose this not only because I like to help others but also because I have always had a passion for things related to the cosmetic field. This career is also perfect for me as I like to consider myself a natural born leader and love to delegate tasks and get things done.

I hope that my lifestyle is pretty glamorous. I want to be smart with my money yet still be able to buy the things that I want, as I believe if you work hard then you deserve it. My work schedule will be Monday through Friday.  I hope my salary is well over 6 figures, this will allow me to have the luxuries I hope for. I want to live somewhere warm, unlike Michigan, I enjoy states like Georgia, California, Nevada and South Carolina.

I will focus on my math and reading classes in highschool to enhance my career. Cosmetology will help me reach my goal as it has taught me so much about drive and determination as well as organization. I plan to attend college after highschool for my business degree. I need to receive my Cosmetology license as well as a business degree. My education will cost about $50,000 a year and my parents will pay for it. 

Having good public speaking skills, organization, a positive attitude and being a natural leader will assist in my career goal, I will need to improve my organization skills and I will practice this by using a planner. My experiences in leadership in highschool as well as having my cosmetology license will help me set myself apart, being that most business people in the cosmetic industry do not actually have licenses. I am passionate about this career because I have the ability to directly and indirectly increase people’s confidence on a daily basis. The sky's the limit with this career, I am excited to be able to set trends and change lives. I will motivate myself by reminding myself of the power that I hold.
