APRIL 2024 - Dr. Bianchette and Ethan Tiong each presented research at the Annual Meeting of the Association of American Geographers in Honolulu!
APRIL 2024 - Dr. Bianchette received the Faculty Research Grant for his project "Multi-proxy analysis of lacustrine sediments from the interior of El Salvador: Do they contain evidence of extreme events?"! Ready to get started!

AUGUST 2023 - Dr. Bianchette's manuscript "Machine learning based anomaly detection for sedimentological data: Application to a Holocene multi-proxy paleoenvironmental reconstruction from Laguna Boquita, Jalisco, Mexico" was accepted in the journal Marine Geology.
JUNE 2023 - Sean Loeffler received the prestigious Undergraduate Student Award in Environmental Chemistry by the American Chemical Society!

APRIL 2023 - Ethan Tiong received the Provost Graduate Student Research Award for his proposal "A paleotempestological reconstruction of Jobos Bay, Puerto Rico: An emphasis on flood signatures from Hurricane Maria." Congrats!
MARCH 2023 - Dr. Bianchette just returned from the Annual Meeting of the Association of American Geographers in Denver. It was great to present recent research findings and see so many familar faces.
MARCH 2023 - Dr. Bianchette's Faculty Research Grant “Wetland sedimentological reconstructions in Michigan to detect storms and flood events on multi-centennial to - millennial timescales” has been funded by Oakland University!
AUGUST 2022 - Dr. Bianchette, along with collaborators from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the United States Geological Survey, just returned from a successful research investigation in the southern Peruvian Andes and coastal Peru! Lots of work to do...

MARCH 2022 - Dr. Bianchette's manuscript "A 4000-year paleoenvironmental reconstruction and extreme event record from Laguna Nuxco, Guerrero, Mexico" was accepted in the journal Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology.
NOVEMBER 2021 - Dr. Bianchette was awarded the URC Faculty Fellowship for his project "Paleoenvironmental reconstruction from bofedales in the southern Peruvian Andes: a multisite and multiproxy investigation of climate, anthropogenic impacts, and water resources."
OCTOBER 2021 - Dr. Bianchette's co-authored manuscript "Linking backbarrier lacustrine stratigraphy with spatial dynamics of shoreline retreat in a rapidly subsiding region of the Mississippi River Delta" was accepted in the journal Geomorphology.
SEPTEMBER 2021 - Dr. Bianchette's co-authored manuscript "Differentiating hurricane deposits in coastal sedimentary records: two storms, one layer, but different processes" was accepted in the journal Environmental Research Communications.
JULY 2021 - Dr. Bianchette just returned from a successful 10-day fieldwork expedition in Puerto Rico!

JUNE 2021 - Dr. Bianchette's co-authored manuscript "Identifying forcing agents of environmental change and ecological response on the Mississippi River Delta, Southeastern Louisiana" was accepted in the journal Science of the Total Environment.
MAY 2021 - Dr. Bianchette and Ethan had successful research trips at Cedar Point National Wildlife Refuge and Magee Marsh, NW Ohio.

APRIL 2021 - Dr. Bianchette's co-authored manuscript "Holocene environmental history of a freshwater wetland in southern Louisiana: A sedimentary record of delta development, coastal evolution, and human activities" was accepted in the Journal of Quaternary Science.
MARCH 2021 - Dr. Bianchette's National Science Foundation project "A multi-proxy approach to characterizing hurricane-derived deposits in coastal and inland environments" was officially transferred to Oakland University! Ready to get to work!
FEBRUARY 2021 - Dr. Bianchette's grant proposal entitled “Paleoenvironmental reconstructions from Cedar Point National Wildlife Refuge and Magee Marsh, Northwestern Ohio: Understanding flood and climate histories from the wetland margins of Lake Erie” has been funded by Oakland University (Faculty Research Grant).
