Dr. Thomas Bianchette is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Oakland University. He earned his PhD in Oceanography and Coastal Sciences from Louisiana State University in 2014. He earned an M.S. in Geography from Louisiana State University in 2007, and a B.S in Geography from Western Michigan University in 2005. His research specializes in paleoenvironmental reconstruction, paleoclimatology, paleotempestology, natural hazards, palynology, geochemistry, geographic information systems, and remote sensing. He has conducted fieldwork throughout the U.S. Gulf Coast, the Florida Everglades, Ohio, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Peru, and the Bahamas. He has published 30 articles in books and highly respected peer-reviewed journals, including The Holocene, Journal of Coastal Research, PLoS-One, and the Journal of Quaternary Science.
