Festival Format & Rules
The format of the event will be 'Festival' style i.e. no play-off matches.
All games will be:
U13: 2 x 8 min (running time), with a 2 minute changeover period.
U15 & 19: 4 x 5 min (running time), with a 3 minute changeover period.
No timeouts, no side entry changeovers, thereafter - FINA Rules apply.
Coaches to ref game immediately after theirs - unless if neutral ref requested.
Please adhere to the following Festival rules to ensure an enjoyable experience for all involved:
No swimming outside of the pool areas, seeing that this is a working harbour.
All bags to be stored in your buses when unattended. This is for security reasons and to help with ease of flow around the Waterfront.
No speakers or sound systems are allowed to be used, as the Waterfront is a public space and we need to respect all patrons.
No throwing and kicking balls outside of the official pool areas.
For safe entry into pools: 34˚South pool - from the wooden jetty next to the tech table; Phil Stewart pool opposite Drydock - from the concrete walkway next to the tech table.
The Knysna Yacht Club is out of bounds to all participants. This is the area behind Drydock restaurant.
Thank you for showing respect and courtesy in the restaurants, shops and accommodation you frequent during the festival.
Covid-19 Regulations
The following measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of all teams and spectators at the festival. Please ensure that you strictly adhere to these protocols:
On arrival teams must first go to the Covid-19 check-in station for screening. Teams must ensure that they arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their first game to allow time for the Covid-19 check-in.
Teams must have their own bottles of sanitiser. There will also be sanitiser stations available at the pools - all players will need to sanitise their hands prior to getting into the water.
Masks to be worn at all times unless eating or playing a game.
Sanitiser stations will be available around the pools.
No hugging or shaking of hands after games.
Rubber bands will be issued to all participants once cleared at the Covid-19 station. These bands are compulsory and must be worn at all times during the festival (obviously not when playing games).
If it does occur that a player's temperature is high or if a players shows any Covid-19 symptoms, the player's team will be removed from the Festival and any team playing against them will therefore have a bye.
