Every job today uses science. Therefore, every student needs to think like a scientist! With this in mind, we teach the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). These standards were adopted by the state of California in 2013 and fully integrated into Oak Grove School District classrooms in 2017.
These standards use three distinct and equally important dimensions to learning science: cross cutting concepts (the patterns of science), disciplinary core ideas (the science itself), and science and engineering practices (doing the science). These dimensions are combined to form each standard—or performance expectation—and each dimension works with the other two to help students build a cohesive understanding of science over time.

More information later this year.
Do we have a textbook or curriculum?
Nope! You get 100% Mrs. Foote created content. Don't worry, it all follows those NGSS and I have a science/education degree. Everything you need will be posted on Google Classroom. We will also create our own digital notebooks to keep all our important data together.
Will I really need this information in life?
YES!!! ALL careers currently require some amount of science knowledge and skills. The sooner we start you on that path, the better. Don't worry, most scientists don't wear white lab coats and get hit in the head with apples.
Did you miss back to school night? Here is a video and a link to the Nearpod (interactive lesson platform) that went along with it!
