Translucence
What type(s) of collaborators are you seeking?
CASTING:
ANNALISE - LEAD: Female-presenting, 17/18. Sets out on a journey through the past to remember her best friend. Serious, observant and caring. Favors safety and security. Has mousy hair, and a sharp memory.
ILONA - LEAD: Female-presenting, 17/18. Impulsive, intense, and enigmatic. She lives life a little on edge, and wants to make the world around her as interesting as possible. She isn’t afraid to take risks, much to Annalise’s displeasure.
LINA - SUPPORTING: Female-presenting, 17/18. Slightly emotionally troubled and boy obsessed. She wants constant reassurance from those around her. Has a hippie sensibility.
SASHA - SUPPORTING: Male-presenting, 17/18, Nerdy, sweet and shy. Messy hair and clothes that fit a little too big. He likes Annalise, but can’t quite get himself to say it.
Project Description
Casting for Translucence, a short romance/drama shooting in Upstate NY in mid-August (12th-17th). Directed and produced by Fae Leonard-Mann and Benny Rendell (UGFTV '26), this is an independent alumni production.
Synopsis: When Annalise’s best friend, Ilona, dies tragically in a car accident during the summer before their senior year, she is unable to move on from her death. In order to hold her close, Annalise journeys through her memory, trying to remember the last words that her friend spoke. Moving through adolescence, Annalise’s experience highlights the tumultuous nature of grief.

A sheltered, hopeless romantic cupcake baker falls in love with a customer, until she finds out he has a girlfriend, leading her to create a poisonous cupcake. Who will eat the cupcake? Who will die? (Genre: satirical tragicomedy) (References: Obsession, The White Lotus, I, Tonya, Shive Baby)
