The Urban, Tourism and Sporting Landscapes of Buenos Aires
Program Overview
Date: January 5 - 11, 2025
Instructor: Dr. Christopher Gaffney, Clinical Associate Professor
Course Description: The course will introduce students to one of the world's great cities, Buenos Aires, through an exploration of its urban history, tourism ecosystem, and sports landscapes. We will be moving through the city on metro, taxi and foot, exploring its contours and contradictions. Buenos Aires is home to world-class museums, architecture, design and sporting events, but it is also mired in an enduring political and eocnomic crisis which has increase the importance of tourism. We will be diving into the history and cultures of this metropolis of 15 million people through literature, art, tourism and sport.

Visas:
Student eligible to apply for electronic visas should have received supporting documents (from Ellen) and instructions from OGS Outbound a week or two ago. You should have already begun, if not completed, the application.
Students needing in person visa appointments should have received supporting documents (from Ellen), instructions from OGS and also direct communication from the Argentinian consulate. Be sure to check your inbox and your spam.

The program has been confirmed to run!
Student accepted and committed to the program should have received information on next steps last week.
The NYU Travel Registry deadline for uploaded passports and NYU BA paperwork only has been extended to Friday, October 25th.
The remainder of the NYU Travel Registry information and Tisch Center DocuSign form are still due on Friday, November 1st

Students who applied by the priority and final deadline have received notification on their application status. Please check your emails for more information and next steps. Response forms are due by Wednesday, October 16th by 5 pm.
Applications received after the 11th will be reviewed on a case by case basis, space permitting.
