Our Interest & Purpose
The Safe Futures is a prevention-focused research lab based at NYU School of Global Public Health.
We conduct applied, family-focused research to prevent child maltreatment by developing, evaluating, and implementing evidence-based interventions in real-world community services.
Why This Matters
Preventing child maltreatment is a public health priority - affecting more than 600,000 children in the U.S. alone each year and leading to lifelong adverse biopsychosocial outcomes. The lab focuses on developing, optimizing, and implementing interventions in applied community settings. By combining rigorous research with practice, our work aims to strengthen families, reduce risk, and create a safe environment for children and caregivers.
All of our lab members are committed to the prevention of child maltreatment with a perspective of inclusion, cultural sensitivity, representation, and health equity.
