SOCIALLY DISTANT is a short play created from the research of Dr. Durell Cooper on Hip-Hop educators. This piece explores issues of representation, identity, & Afro-futurism through the lens of four Black male educators who aspire to inspire BIPOC youth. Dr. Durell Cooper is one of the nation's leading cultural strategists and is the Founder and CEO of Cultural Innovation Group, a boutique consulting agency specializing in systems change and collaborative thought leadership. He is also the creator and host of the web series Flow and the podcast Fluency w/ Dr. Durell Cooper; an adjunct instructor at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, New York University, and The City College of New York. Durell completed the Impact Program for Arts Leaders (IPAL) at Stanford University in 2018. He is a member of the Diversity Scholars Network at the National Center for Institutional Diversity, University of Michigan. Durell earned a B.F.A from Southern Methodist University, and both an M.A & Doctorate of Education from New York University. At NYU SPS, he teaches courses in the Certificate in Arts Management at the Center for Applied Liberal Arts.

Charles Nuckolls has developed a reputation for delivering high-end creative products that boast of artistic freedom while maintaining a commercial sensibility. He is an Emmy Award nominee who develops long form television programs and series as a writer, producer and director, and holds a BFA in Film and Television Production from Tisch School for the Arts, New York University, a MA in Theatre from Hunter College. He is a member of the Playwrights and Directors Unit of The Actors Studio and The Dramatists Guild. Known for conceiving bold, director-driven work that spans genres and forms; his programming has been seen on national cable, PBS and local broadcast networks. La MaMa, The Blank Theatre and Ensemble Studio Theatre have presented his theatrical productions in Los Angeles and New York. His other exhibitions include Urbanworld Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, Williamstown Film Festival, Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; Video Frontiers Festival, Perugia; The New Foundation, Seattle; and PRX Public Radio Exchange.
