Small group discussion
On 24 September, we are going to have small group discussions (maximum 4 people per group) of the course material so far. You can sign up here.
Group 1 22 Sept (0900-0930) | Group 2 (0945-1015) | Group 3 (1800-1830) | Group 4 (0815-0845)
1 Watch: "The Gauntlet" (Coco Karol and Sxip Shirey). Pay attention to the idea of a "movement interview." The interviews are made with people for inspiration in creating the libretto. Coco and Sxip will working with the NYUAD Arts Center next semester on a production of The Gauntlet.
We will be working with some of their movement interviews and will attempt some computer-assisted readings and analyses of them. After this assignment is finished we will meet back with Sxip for a small master class on lyric writing. We might think of this as a human-computer-human interaction.
2. Watch short video with transcript: Interview with Sxip Shirley and Coco Karol on the "movement interviews" (you need to be authenticated at NYU to view this).
3. Quick writing: Report back to the Chat what the most interesting point of the class small group discussion was. (at the latest 0600, 27 September).
