The Culture, Emotion, and Health Lab (CEH) directed by Dr. William Tsai studies how people regulate their emotions, cope with stress, & how these processes lead to health & well-being. The research questions within the CEH Lab focus on how cultural tendencies & values can shape the development & use of these processes.
The NYU CARA project (COVID-19, Asian Americans, Resiliency & Allyship), seeks to understand Asian Americans and Black Americans' racialized experiences during COVID-19 pandemic and the national reckoning with race following the murder of George Floyd, and how they are associated with health, mental health, and racial solidarity under the guidance of Dr. Sumie Okazaki.
Universal Pre-K (UPK) is an initiative led by Dr. Pamela Morris-Perez in partnership with NYU & NYC Schools Division of Early Childhood Education to foster a research-practice partnership to support the roll-out of universal pre-kindergarten through Pre-K For All improving the quality of its programming. This project aims to provide quantitative & capacity-building solutions to educational problems faced by the DOE-DECE.
The Path Inclusion Project is an initiative that is partnering with the New York City (NYC) Department of Education to develop and pilot a whole-school inclusion model focused on supporting youth with and without behavioral and emotional needs together to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. In 2022-2023, they will be revising the Path model based on our pilot data and expanding it to several NYC schools under the supervision of Dr. Elise Cappella.
