All students are expected to be familiar with and to conscientiously observe all of the health and safety rules and policies the University has put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most prominently, this includes:
Compliance with NYU’s vaccine and uploading requirement and policy (see below for more information)
Compliance with NYU’s masking rules
Compliance with the University’s events and gatherings guidelines
Compliance with the University’s visitors, vendors, and affiliates rules
Compliance with the University rules regarding building access
Compliance with required testing and physical distancing for those who are not fully vaccinated
Compliance with the University’s directives involving isolation, quarantine, reporting, and other public health measures
Please note that NYU's rules and policies are subject to change, in light of evolving public health conditions and governmental regulations and guidance. Students are expected to review communications from the University and periodically review the NYU Returns webpage about any updates throughout the year. Failure to abide by University policy and rules related to COVID-19 implicates the health and safety of our community and, as such, may subject students to discipline under the University Student Conduct Policy. Failure to comply with NYU’s COVID-19 immunization requirement will subject students to significant consequences, up to and including de-enrollment.
NYU has announced it will require all students who plan to be on NYU's US campuses and sites to be vaccinated AND have the booster shot against COVID-19. It also requires students, faculty, and employees who have been vaccinated and have taken their booster shot to upload proof of vaccination/booster status.
These requirements are designed to facilitate the resumption of full, in-person campus activity and reduce the risk of infection on campus and within the local community.
Effective June 7, 2021 students and employees who are fully vaccinated/boosted and have uploaded their proof of vaccination and had it validated will be exempt from NYU’s ongoing Community Testing program and—effective immediately—from quarantining following close contact exposure to someone with COVID-19 (assuming no symptoms). Proof of vaccination will also be tied to the Daily Screener and NYU building access beginning June 7.
NYU now also requires all members of the NYU community to receive a COVID-19 booster vaccination as soon as they are eligible and upload proof of the vaccination.
Regardless of vaccination status, anyone with close contact exposure and/or symptoms of COVID-19 is still required to complete the self-report form.
* For anyone vaccinated through the on-campus program (not including NYU Langone), the university will automatically maintain records of your vaccination.
Uploading your proof of vaccination is important and doesn’t take long, so please do it promptly after receiving the final dose of any FDA or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized vaccines (e.g., the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or the first dose of the Johnson and Johnson/Janssen vaccine).
Log in to the SHC Portal with your Net ID, password, and University ID number (8-digit N number). Your University ID number is on the back of your NYU ID card.
Select "Medical Clearances" in the menu
Find the row for "COVID-19 Vaccine"
Upload a photo or scanned copy of the front of your vaccine card
Manually enter the dates and type of vaccine you received
You're done!
