In the role of Data Ambassador, learners will produce a data visualization and add a statement to their data biography that explores ethical decision-making around how data is collected and used.
Minimum recommended class time: 10-12 hours & Recommended support: Level 2-3
After students have gone through the Data Maker Track
James walks into class sees a reflection prompt on the board.
The class reviews some examples of how physical data is tracked and used by technology and the teacher poses a dilemma for students to discuss.
Students work on adding a paragraph to their data biography that discusses ethical decision-making:
What choices did you make about what to share publicly or research?
How would you feel if someone reused your data or displayed it differently?
Would your future self feel okay about this?
Students present their data visualizations to the class. Students explain their investigative question, how they collected data, data-based findings, and personal or societal implications.
