We are the Ex Pats, a group of students who bring experiences across different disciplines, programs, and passions. What we share is that we all pursued higher education outside our home countries. We believe in meeting students where they are at in their learning. We believe that each learner has unique needs, and our training should reflect that. And we believe in growth-oriented learning that emphasizes learners' skills - rather than perceived gaps or weaknesses - and builds confidence.

In this project, I learned the whole process of learning design from leaner/content analysis, finding the problem, solving the problem (design), development and prototype, evaluation, and going back to iteration. During the process, the product is refined into a better shape.
Besides the science behind learning design, I learned a lot as a project manager. I learned about how to converge ideas from everyone who shares different ideas. I also learned communication is KEY to production because you need to have everyone on the same page to proceed.

I learned so much practical knowledge throughout this project. Particularly, how big the role of a learning designer is. In my day-to-day, it's easy to see the role as a content factory, but a learning designer has such an important role in each phase of the design process. I was grateful to dig into those with which I am less familiar and develop practical skills in these areas. In addition, it was incredibly useful to put into practice the application of learning theory to learning design.

Working through this project gave me a comprehensive understanding of learning design. From the practical aspect, I learned how to design to give learners a better learning experience according to their needs. From the theoretical aspect, I see how I could apply the theories including I learned from cognitive science and learning science classes to our design. This project inspires my passion for learning design and expands my academic experience that I've never had before.

One of our main challenges was to create an accessible solution, considering limited resources. We utilized technology and AI tools to address this challenge. We also conducted thorough research and engaged industry professionals to ensure our solution was effective in equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the job market. Overall, we have created a solution that has the potential to positively impact the lives of international students seeking employment opportunities in the United States.
