New York City has taken many measures in order to better deal with climate change and extreme weather. The SBPCR and ESCR are two huge projects already in the works which aim to protect the city and its people, by the year 2050, from future flooding as sea level continues to rise.
In Battery Park City, the potential of coastal parks in a rapidly changing environment is being tested in the redesign for Wagner Park. What can a park do to be resilient? What roles should a park play in the formation of a resilient community? How can design be expanded to protect that community?
