The Hyper Lab is located next to the kitchen area on the 4th floor of 370 Jay. We offer more than just computers and workspace. Our services include office hours, workshops, and resources in all manner of XR technology and traditional media production. Our talented team of Hyper Lab Mentors specialize in a wide range of areas including video editing, 3D modeling, character rigging, animation (using software like Blender, Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, Zbrush, and Nuke), motion capture, VR/AR development, Unity, Unreal Engine, and Max/MSP. What is the Hyper Lab?
The Hyper Lab is a group of four high performance computers that can be reserved for XR experimentation, project development which requires significant GPU-usage, and trying out VR experiences. It’s located next to the kitchen on the 4th floor of 370 Jay.
Community Guidelines
The Hyper Lab is a community resource. In order for it to function and thrive we ask that everyone follow these guidelines to ensure that the spaces and equipment are readily available for the community.
Reservations
1 hour reservation slots
no more than 4 hours a day
please remember to cancel reservations you don’t plan to use
Equipment
equipment in the Hyper Lab may not be removed from the space.
Leave No Trace
The Hyper Lab should be returned to the state in which you found it or to its neutral state before your reservation is finished.
Project Storage
It is highly recommended that you purchase a Solid State Drive (SSD) with USB connector to store your project.
Each student can use up to 100 gigs of local storage each semester in a folder named with your NetID on the D: drive but you do so at your own risk. D: drives will be wiped at the end of the semester so be sure to back up your files.
