Technology Resources
Overview
The technology resources available to Gallatin faculty are extensive. This section is provided to help faculty navigate the technology landscape, especially as it applies to teaching and learning.
Computer/Media Labs & Makerspaces
GALLATIN
STAC Makerspace: The Science, Technology, Art, and Creativity (STAC) makerspace in room 746 is Gallatin’s collaborative project space, where students and faculty can run workshops and use the equipment and tools. Contact the STAC team (gallatin.stac@nyu.edu) for more information.
Gallatin Digital Computing Lab (GDCL): Located in room 522A (inside the Student Lounge), the GDCL provides four workstations that are outfitted with a number of specialty programs, as well as more common ones. Booking is available for both faculty and students.
NYU
Public Computing: More than 250 computers are available to students, faculty and staff at various locations on the New York Campus. See Public Computing for more information.
NYU Libraries
Computers are available at the Bobst and Dibner libraries, which also offer laptop loans. See the library's guide to Computers and Labs for more information.
Data Services: Located on the 5th floor of Bobst, Data Services offers consultations, workshops, and infrastructure for research computing work, including the Data Services Lab, which offers workstations with specialized software.
The Digital Studio: Located on the 5th floor of Bobst, the Digital Studio offers consultations, workstations, and specialized equipment for digital projects, such as scanners for analog/physical to digital, a voice recording booth, and media production services.
The Avery Fisher Center for Music & Media: Located on the 7th floor of Bobst, the AFC has two reservable spaces, the Bobst Collaborative Media Rooms (4 small and 2 large reservable collaborative rooms for media listening and viewing) and the Feldstein Immersion Room (reserve a space for up to 35 people, for group video screenings, as well as live performances).
Student Technology Centers (STCs): NYU has three Student Technology Centers (STCs) that are accessible to students, as well as faculty and staff. The STCs provide access to a variety of technology resources, including specialized software, printing, 3D printing, video conferencing, video production suites, group study spaces, and more. The three locations include:
LaGuardia Student Technology Center: Includes a media classroom that can be booked by faculty, as well as reservable gaming equipment.
Tandon's Makerspace: Open to the NYU community, the makerspace at Tandon offers a wide variety of equipment, hardware, and software, and can be reserved for class trainings.

AVAILABLE AT NYU
Software Resources: Find a list of software available at NYU.
Virtual Computer Lab: Available to all NYU students, as well as faculty and staff by request, the VCL offers free, on-the-go access to a wide range of academic software.

Gallatin Academic Software Request Form: Gallatin faculty can submit a request for software for course use.
Gallatin Technology Purchase Request Form: Gallatin faculty and staff must use this form to request technology purchases.

NYU Computer Store: Located at 726 Broadway, the NYU Computer Store offers a good selection of academically priced hardware and software.
3D PRINTING
Science, Technology, Arts, & Creativity (STAC) at Gallatin includes a makerspace with 3D printing capability.
Tandon's Makerspace is open to the NYU community, and can be reserved for class trainings.
The LaGuardia Studio Resources includes services for NYU students to create 3D prints as well as 3D scans. This resource is useful to students interested in photography, fine arts, or architecture/architectural design.
*Note: Each academic year, Gallatin is allocated a limited grant budget that can cover up to 90% of a student’s project. For more information about funding for the LaGuardia Studio, please contact Gallatin’s Office of Faculty Affairs (facultyservices.gallatin@nyu.edu). Please note that students should not make any payments to the Studio before meeting with Faculty Affairs about a grant check, as Gallatin is unable to reimburse students for money paid directly to the Studio.
Remote Instruction
In the event of severe weather or other emergency, be prepared to pivot to remote instruction by setting up your Brightspace course site, where you can use the Zoom tool to conduct remote, hybrid, or blended instruction. Additional resources are listed below:

NYU Support for Teaching & Research Technologies
Digital Accessibility: Learn more about accessibility at NYU, including guidance for making your teaching materials accessible to all of your students, regardless of ability.
Digital Scholarship Services: DSS supports digital research methods, providing consultations for such topics as web hosting, data management and storage, data-driven and multimedia scholarship and publishing, and copyright and fair use. The NYU Digital Humanities community offers project funding for both faculty and graduate students.
LinkedIn Learning Tutorials: Access thousands of self-paced, online tutorials at no cost to NYU members. Learn how to do anything, from creating a PowerPoint to advanced 3D printing software.
Support for Teaching and Learning: Provided by the Office of the Provost, the Learning Experience Design Team offers a robust menu of services and programs to advance the teaching and learning mission at NYU, including teaching consultations, teaching observations, TeachTalks, and the Teaching Advancement Grant.
