Experiences
Global Competency
Travelled abroad to Abu Dhabi during the Spring Semester of Sophomore year
Absolutely life-changing experience; the relationships I made with professors, research mentors, students, and other GLASS students cannot be traded for anything else.
This was the first time I was truly out of my comfort zone; everything was different from the temperature to the food. I learned to adapt and respect all points of views. I l learned what it felt like to be a foreigner, and enjoying every second and every bit of information I learned.
Meditated in the desert, indoor skydived, rock climbed at the (second) largest indoor rock climbing gym in the world, fed camels, explored a date farm, explored the largest mall in the world, experienced the latest technology at Dubai's Museum of the Future, saw capybaras and fed stingrays at the National Abu Dhabi Aquarium, and the list goes on!
Commitment to Service
Volunteered Tandon's "The Simple Sunflower Project," building flower bouquets for hospital patients. We utilized flowers donated from local flower shops, bunched them into beautiful bouquets and then brought them over to the Lennox Hill Hospital
Volunteered at NYC's Lower East Side Food not Bombs Organization, serving fresh food and distributing necessary items such a toothbrushes and sanitary items.
It is always so great to learn more about other people and to be able to put a smile on their faces.
It truly warms my heart to give back to the community, especially since I am also a New Yorker.
Leadership
Orientation Leader for Tandon's incoming Class of 2027
Led students through fun and engaging orientation sessions including an NYU/NYU Scavenger hunt, teaching them about different NYU Tandon opportunities, and more!
Sub-Team leader for VIP Team, Sixth Sense
Led the experimental subteam of 5 members, focusing on creating the IRB documents used for experimentation, 3-D printed parts necessary for the hardware design of the apparatus, and also trained new members on the importance of our work.
Academic Excellence
I conducted research during my time at NYU Abu Dhabi as well as during my previous two summers, at NYU Tandon.
At NYU Abu Dhabi, I created metal organic frameworks (MOFs) to aid in water adsorption in areas with high aridity
At NYU Tandon, I worked in the Dynamical Systems Lab and focused on studying zebrafish swimming in the wake of a pitching airfoil, which will help in creating automated machines in the future.
Professional Development
I attended the 2023 Society of Women Engineers held in Los Angeles, California. I chose to go to this conference because not only is it the biggest gathering of women engineers anywhere, but also because of the people I could meet and talk to. Through the SWE Conference, I was able to receive an offer for my employment after graduation. I also was able to explore the colorful and diverse Los Angeles I have heard so much about!
Found employment through the SWE Conference at Ecolab, specifically their subsidiary Purolite. I am extremely excited to get started after graduation and commit to Ecolab's (and my own) commitment to fostering a cleaner, safer, and healther future!
