Designed for organizations with an array of ongoing programs and extensive operations
Contributed and earned income flows through NYFA
The organization operates within NYFA’s nonprofit financial structure
Often used as a bridge while working toward independent 501(c)(3) status
This track is only available if your organization is incorporated as a nonprofit at the state level.
All of your organization's funds go through NYFA. Sponsored Emerging Organizations close bank accounts related to their activities.
Both contributed income, such as grants and donations, and earned income, such as ticket sales, fees, and merchandise, flow through NYFA.
NYFA must be your only fiscal sponsor while you are sponsored.
NYFA does not provide funding. Your organization identifies funders, applies for grants, and cultivates donors.
Your organization stays responsible for filing its own taxes, paying payroll taxes, and carrying appropriate insurance.
If your nonprofit incorporation is pending, we recommend applying for sponsorship once it has been approved. We also offer out-of-cycle applications if you receive approval outside of our quarterly cycles.
Choose Emerging Organization if your organization is incorporated as a nonprofit at the state level and does not yet have 501(c)(3) status.
Choose Artist Project if you are an individual, an unincorporated group, an LLC, or a corporation.
Your track sets how your contract is structured and how income flows through your account.
Choose Incorporated nonprofit organization at the state level only if your state has approved your nonprofit incorporation papers, such as a certificate of incorporation on file with your state.
These do not count: a pending application, an organization sponsored by another fiscal sponsor, an informal group, or a for-profit entity. If that describes you, the Artist Project track may be the right fit.
If you are approved, you will upload proof of your legal status before your contract is issued.
