This part sets who signs the contract and who NYFA works with day to day. For Artist Projects, the project director signs the contract, either as an individual or on behalf of their LLC or corporation.
If your project is accepted, you will receive a contract and a W9.
Contract options: sign as an individual with your SSN, sign for your LLC or corporation with its EIN, or sign for your LLC with your SSN because it is a sole proprietorship.
Every project director needs a US tax ID (SSN, EIN, or ITIN). Your choice sets the name and tax ID on your contract and W9, and how income is reported to the IRS. If your status changes later, NYFA can update the agreement.
If you plan to apply for NYSCA grants next year, note that LLCs are not eligible, even with a fiscal sponsor. If your project depends on NYSCA funding, consider applying as an individual using your SSN.
The project director is the one person responsible for the account, communication with NYFA, grant reporting, and payment requests.
Enter the legal first, middle, and last name exactly as on the W9. This name appears on the contract.
The project director is responsible for their own taxes. Each year, NYFA issues the project director one 1099 for all funds paid out of the account, including vendor payments. Report this on your own tax returns and consult an accountant if needed.
