The Individual Arts Assessment Pathway (IAAP) is 4+1 graduation pathway option in which students complete a three-unit sequence in the arts and demonstrate, through a portfolio of artworks, growth over time that meets the High School II Accomplished Performance Indicators in the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts. In addition, IAAP offers art students a graduation pathway that prepares them for future professional and educational experiences and opportunities in the arts.
Art students will build and add to a personal digital art portfolio as they complete each of their selected art courses. Final course assessments will require students to add to their digital art portfolio by uploading both artwork and reflective writing to demonstrate student learning of the Visual Arts Standards. The portfolio emphasizes tracking student growth throughout the three courses, not just mastering art.
Students must successfully complete the final assessment for each semester's art course as indicated by their art teachers. By doing so, students will complete the required portfolio for IAAP as they progress through their arts sequence. Finally, the IAAP committee will review completed student portfolios to assess whether they meet IAAP requirements.
