When I started this project my goal was to imagine an orangutan that would thrive in its environment more than it does now, in order to help it from going extinct. The purpose of this project was to learn how evolution works and how certain adaptations help the animal thrive in its environment. I enjoyed this project a lot because I was able to learn more about an animal of my choosing as well as its environment.
My main takeaway from this project was the rapid decline in rainforests, just in the island Borneo there's half as much rainforest as there was 70 years ago, that's 1300 football fields worth of animal habitat gone. Overall I had fun learning about the orangutan and rainforests in general. I also learned just as much about the rapid decline in rainforest habitat and the causes of it.
This is my project on Astronomy, and my driving question is “What is the significance of Astronomy?”. I did research on the Solar System, planets, Stars and their life cycles, the Universe and its history, among others. I put this information into a ArcGIS Story Map, a program you can use to make maps and present information.
