  • Teams must always win by 2 points. There is NO scoring cap.

  • All sets start at 0-0 for every division.

  • There is NO time limit on any match.

  • Teams will remain on the same side of the court for the entire match.

Tournament Format and Information:

Every team in every division of LYV participates in the post-season tournament. Open Divisions will be cross seeded for the final tournament. House Divisions will be cross seeded for the final tournament.

Every team will be assigned a seed number. Final seedings will be based on regular season won-lost records. In the event of any ties, point differentials will determine seed.

The tournament is single elimination: lose a match and you are eliminated. There is no chance for re-entry, there is no losers bracket. Winners keep advancing.

Teams should arrive at the playing site as they did during the regular 2021 season. The coin flip prior to Game #1 will determine who serves first for sets 1 and 2. If a third set is necessary, coin flip to determine who serves first for game #3 will be done prior to game #3.

Timed warm-up’s will be 10 minutes in length. This will use the 5-5 warm-up that was used during the 2021 regular season. The team serving first in game #1 will then have sole possession of the entire court for 5 minutes followed by the other team having sole possession for 5 minutes.

Teams will remain on the same side of the court for the entire match.

Tournament Directors have the authority to alter start times as long as both teams/coaches and the assigned referee are present.

Tournament Directors are in charge of each game site and can be identified by a Tournament Director shirt. Teams should always check-in with the Tournament Director upon arrival at the game site. Teams that have lost must check-out with the Tournament Director. Teams who have won and are leaving for an hour break must check-out with the Tournament Director prior to leaving and confirm their upcoming start time.

Playing time and substitution rules for the tournament are the same as the regular season rules for each division.
