Being a part of South CTA offers students a unique advantage, providing them with a wealth of opportunities and resources that may not be available at every school. We pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive curriculum that goes beyond the standard academic requirements, encompassing a diverse range of extracurricular activities, specialized programs, and access to cutting-edge technology. Our school community is dedicated to fostering a supportive and enriching environment that nurtures students' passions, interests, and talents.
To ensure the continuity of these exceptional opportunities for future students, we ask all families to commit to our magnet contract as part of their registration process. This contract serves as a mutual agreement between the school and the families, outlining the expectations, responsibilities, and commitments required for enrollment in our specialized programs. By signing this contract, families pledge their commitment to actively engage in their child's education, support the school's mission, and contribute to the overall success of our community.
It is important to note that violations of the magnet contract may result in the non-return status to South CTA for the following school year. This policy is in place to safeguard the integrity of our specialized programs, ensure the equitable distribution of resources, and maintain a high level of accountability within our school community. By upholding the standards outlined in the magnet contract, we can preserve the unique opportunities and resources that make South CTA a remarkable place of learning.
We believe that by working together and upholding our shared commitments, we can create an educational environment that empowers students to achieve their full potential, fosters a sense of belonging, and prepares them for success in their academic and personal lives.
This contract outlines the expectations for the performance and continuation in a magnet program.
Enrollment Standards
1. The Magnet/CTA becomes the student’s assigned school once enrolled.
2. Withdrawal from the Magnet/CTA is not permitted during the school year for the remainder of the time a student is enrolled in the program. A student can only be withdrawn at the end of the school year.
3. A student must maintain enrollment in the designated program of study to which they enrolled.
4. If a student-athlete returns to their zoned school or makes any other subsequent changes in enrollment, they would be ineligible for the remainder of that school year and for 180 school days in any sport they rostered in at the magnet school as per the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA). Contact the Athletic Office at your school for additional information and guidance regarding athletic eligibility.
Academic Standards - Secondary Schools (Grade 6–Grade 12)

3. Students whose semester GPA falls below 2.0 for two consecutive semesters may be subject to dismissal from the program.
4. Schools will work with families to support student success; however, students are responsible for meeting program expectations. Students entering with academic deficiencies may be required to participate in interventions such as mandatory tutoring sessions, supplemental assignments, or additional coursework to strengthen areas needed for success in the program. The specific interventions will be determined by the school based on each student’s individual needs.
Attendance Standards
1. Students must maintain good attendance while enrolled in a magnet program
a. Students with ten (10) or more absences (excused or unexcused) in a semester, or eight (8) on a block schedule, will be placed on attendance probation.

2. Students who are referred for expulsion and/or are formally expelled may be dismissed from the magnet program.
Magnet Program Probation
Students who violate any of the guidelines pertaining to academics, attendance, behavior, or any combination of the three standards will be placed on probation. Students who do not meet the obligations of their probation may be dismissed from the program at the end of the school year or prior to the following school year. Probationary and Dismissal Process
STEP 1: Students will be placed on probation if they violate the contract.
STEP 2: A probation conference will be scheduled with the parent/guardian to discuss the conditions of probation, including support options available.
STEP 3: A student on probation may be required to participate in activities such as summer school, online credit retrieval, after-school tutoring, core subject interventions through Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), behavior intervention plans, progress monitoring, and/or daily check-ins.
STEP 4: A dismissal conference will be scheduled with the parent/guardian if the student fails to meet the conditions of the probation or continues to violate the contract. It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to ensure that their contact information is accurate and up-to-date in Infinite Campus. The school will make every reasonable attempt to contact the parent/guardian, including phone calls and email communications; however, failure to respond or engage in communication will not delay or negate the probation and dismissal process.
Magnet Program Dismissal
Students who do not meet the obligations of their probation may be dismissed from the program at the end of the school year or prior to the following school year. Upon dismissal from the magnet school, it is the parent/guardian's responsibility to complete the enrollment process for the student's zoned school.
