Lummis uses the AR (Accelerated Reader) program in grades 2-5. Students independently read books that are in their reading range and then take computerized tests on the books at school. Students earn points, which count toward their individualized reading goals. It is also crucial that students’ overall comprehension on AR quizzes averages at 85% or better. Once students meet their AR goal, they will be called to stand on the amphitheater stage during Friday's Flag Ceremony and receive a special certificate in library class. (During Distance Learning students will instead be emailed a certificate.) The overall goal is for students to increase the time they spend reading independently! Lummis students LOVE reading!
Students now log into Clever and click Renaissance to get to Accelerated Reader. Now that school is back in person, AR quizzes may now only be taken during the school day.
You can also look up books at home to determine their point value and reading level on AR Book Finder. Click below to check it out!
Parents and students can check on progress with Accelerated Reader at home by going to Renaissance Home Connect.
