Wellness Tips & Opportunities for Students
Options to keep your mind and body healthy while sheltering at home:
Go for a walk or a run outside. Remember the social distancing rules and to stay 6 feet away from others. If you can’t keep 6 feet away from others, remember everyone should be wearing a cloth face covering.
Read books or visit the library online.
Research new hobbies or skills to learn and begin practicing them.
Do video workouts. Many can be found online.
Watch movies or TV shows together as a family or virtually with friends.
Take a virtual tour of a museum, or walk through the Grand Canyon with Google Earth.
Research places you would like to visit someday and make other plans & goals for the future.
Get plenty of sleep at night.
Stick to a schedule that works with online learning. Set a time to wake up, exercise, shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, etc., to start the “school day." Plan for mini breaks & a lunch break.
Reach out virtually and safely to friends and family, by phone, text, video chat, etc.
Volunteer to help tutor children of neighbors or friends online.
Options to positively contribute to your household:
Can you help plan or cook dinner? Try fun conversation starters at dinner such as, “My favorite part of today was…" or "Today I am grateful for...".
Is there anyone in your house who would like to learn a new dance or play a fun game with you?
Try hosting a "virtual dinner" by setting up a laptop or iPad at the table with invited “guests.”
Organize family photos, make slideshows or recreate your family's history. This is a great topic for calls to older relatives, who may be able to help share family information with you.
Clean your room, the basement, or declutter the garage and prepare items to donate to charity.
