AP Computer Science Principles
AP Computer Science Principles – 53102
Course Scope:
This one-year course is designed with an emphasis on meeting the requirements of the College Board Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles examination. This college-level curriculum emphasizes essential ideas of computer science with a focus on how computing can impact the world. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to our society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the Arts/Humanities/CTE credits required for high school graduation. This course may count towards the College and Career Ready Flex Credit requirements for the Standard Diploma.
Advanced Computer Science I
ADVANCED COMPUTER SCIENCE I – 5325 Prerequisite: Completion of AP Computer Science Principles with a C or better
Course Scope:
This introductory year-long course provides students with knowledge and skills related to computational thinking, coding, and software program creation. Areas of emphasis include computer programming, algorithms, and problem-solving. Programming languages are used as the vehicle for implementing computer-based solutions. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the Arts/Humanities/CTE credits required for high school graduation.
Advanced Computer Science II Honors
Advanced Computer Science II Honors – 53444 Prerequisite: Completion of Advanced Computer Science I with a C or better
Course Scope:
This one-year course is designed for students who have successfully completed Computer Science I. This course is designated as honors level by the accelerated instructional pacing and depth of content. Areas of emphasis include algorithms, programming, data structures and analysis and networks. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the Arts/Humanities/CTE credits required for high school graduation. This course may count towards the College and Career Ready Flex Credit requirements for the Standard Diploma.
AP Computer Science A
AP COMPUTER SCIENCE A – 53042 Prerequisite: Completion of Advanced Computer Science II with a C or better
Course Scope:
This one-year course is designed with an emphasis on meeting the requirements of the College Board Advanced Placement Computer Science A examination. This college-level curriculum emphasizes problem solving, design strategies and methodologies, organization of data (data structures), approaches to processing data (algorithms), analysis of potential solutions, and the ethical and social implications of computing. Cybersecurity I
CYBERSECURITY I – 5391 Prerequisite: Completion of AP Computer Science Principles with a C or better
Course Scope:
This introductory year-long course provides students with introductory knowledge related to computer hardware and software, safety procedures, network design and configuration. Areas of emphasis include ethics in cybersecurity, online safety, and securing networks. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the Arts/Humanities/CTE credits required for high school graduation.
Cybersecurity II
CYBERSECURITY II – 5393 Prerequisite: Completion of Cybersecurity I with a C or better
Course Scope:
This one-year course is designed for students who have successfully completed Cybersecurity I. Areas of emphasis include: computer forensics, incident handling, and investigative objectives. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the elective credits required for high school graduation.
Cybersecurity Advanced Studies
CYBERSECURITY ADVANCED STUDIES – 5395 Prerequisite: Completion of Cybersecurity II with a C or better
Course Scope:
This one-year course provides students who have achieved all content standards in Cybersecurity an advanced study through investigation and in-depth research. The student collaborates with the supervising teacher to design and implement the topic of study. Coursework may include work-based learning experiences such as internships and job shadowing, involvement in a school-based enterprise, completion of a capstone project, and/or portfolio development. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of the elective credits required for high school graduation and may be repeated.
