Mission Statement

The mission of Cowan Academic Center is a student centered community that provides effective positive behavioral interventions within a safe, holistic, structured learning environment.

Cowan Academic Center is designed to provide alternative instruction to students in grades six through twelve who have been temporarily assigned from other schools throughout the Clark County School District. The goal is to assist students in changing their behaviors so that they may successfully return to a regular campus. To ensure this return, students are required to regularly attend school, adopt and maintain a positive attitude, follow all school rules and regulations, and perform well academically.

Vision Statement

Cowan Academic Center strives to challenge students on an academic and behavioral journey that prepares students to achieve at a comprehensive high school and middle school, as well as the ability to succeed in an ever changing society.

The administration and staff believe that all students can, with the necessary effort, behave appropriately in the educational setting. Therefore, the Cowan staff is dedicated to providing your student with ample opportunities to leave past mistakes behind and look toward a successful future. Since Cowan is a behavioral school, a plan for school success that consists of guidance program/counseling/small groups is in place in order to facilitate change in a student’s conduct.
