Senior Scholarship Options

Greetings from The Public Education Foundation,

We are sending you this email to inform you of the many opportunities we have available through the PEF this year for senior athletes. If you could please spread information about these scholarships to students you believe would qualify or to educators that can identify students, we would greatly appreciate it! Below I have included all scholarship opportunities that are related to student athletes with the description and link to application. In addition to athletic scholarships, we have over 300+ scholarship opportunities totaling over $5 million available for graduating seniors.

Please note that all of these opportunities will close for applications on January 31, 2023 at 11:59pm.

Chris Cassell Memorial Baseball Scholarship

CCSD Nevada seniors who play varsity high school baseball and intend to play college baseball and will be enrolled as a full-time college student may apply for this scholarship. A 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred. One $2,500 scholarship will be awarded.

David Humm Scholarship Award for Courage Presented by The Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame

College bound senior athletes living in Clark County, Nevada, may apply for this scholarship if they have shown courage in the face of adversity, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have participated in sports/athletics. Applicants may be a senior at a charter, private, or CCSD high school. One scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded. Interviews will be scheduled with the finalists.

Dr. Duane Grierson Memorial Scholarship

UNLV bound seniors living in Clark County, Nevada or current collegiate student athletes attending UNLV who are a member of their school’s baseball or softball, men’s or women’s basketball, or football team may apply for this scholarship. Recipient is not required to play a sport in college. Student must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and plan to attend UNLV as a full-time student. One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded and this scholarship may be renewed for an additional three years for a total of $4,000.

Gene and Kay Grimm Athletic Scholarship

College bound seniors living in Clark County, Nevada, who attend a CCSD, charter, private or home school and have a minimum 3.0 GPA may apply for this scholarship. Student must be active in sports and plan to attend an accredited college or university. One scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded.

Raymond Mathis Athletic Scholarship

CCSD, African American male seniors with a 3.0 unweighted GPA or higher who have actively participated two or more years in high school sports/athletics and plan to attend an accredited college or university in Nevada may apply for this scholarship. Finalists may be interviewed. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.

Rich Abajian Leadership Scholarship Presented by The Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame

Seniors living in Clark County, Nevada who have participated in athletics for the past four years and have a 3.2 or higher unweighted GPA may apply for this scholarship. Student may be a senior at a charter, private, or CCSD high school. Students must describe their participation in athletics and leadership roles. Five $2,500 scholarships will be offered.

Tim Bombard Memorial Scholarship

All Nevada High School student athletes, along with current Nevada College and University student athletes, that are US citizens, including previous recipients of this scholarship, may apply. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Family income must be less than $90,000. Students with a full-ride athletic scholarship are not be eligible to apply. Proof of participation on a college sports team must be submitted and verified (interscholastic only, intramurals do not qualify). One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded. This scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years provided the student continues to meet the original requirements. Total scholarship will be $4,000 if requirements are met all four years. Award will not be sent to your school until the semester during your sport season.

Veronica Gantt Memorial Scholarship

Del Sol Academy seniors living in Clark County, Nevada who are active in sports and their community and plan to attend an accredited college or university may apply for this scholarship. A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is required. Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded.
