Indigenous, Métis and Inuit
The health of Indigenous, Métis and Inuit people in the land we have briefly called Canada are at high risk for barriers to access health care, including mental health. They are also facing layers of trauma, racism, discrimination and barriers to culturally safe care.
As an organization owned by a Métis Family, Heart & Mind Psychotherapy is dedicated to ensuring that all people who identify as Indigenous have access to the care they need.
We are dedicated to supporting you with:
Case/Care Navigation to find the support you need. Including linking you to the existing support set up by Indigenous organizations such as the Métis Nation of Ontario or walking you through getting access to NIHB funding and support.
Access to a framework of success when dealing with recovery from substances. This includes in-house support from people with lived experience to ensure you have connections to ongoing 1:1 peer support.
Culturally Safe and Humble care. It is not enough to say we care, we will demonstrate it by being humble in our approach to your cultural needs. By being humble and seeking your needs and wants, we hope to make you feel seen, valued and above all culturally safe.
