Ask your folks to email Mrs Scott psc@nudgee.qld.edu.au or call the L&T Office ph 3865 0165 to let us know.
You MUST see a doctor AND ask your doctor to complete the QCAA Medical Report (link below) - PART B needs to be completed OR obtain a medical certificate
Once you have this evidence completed...
Forward a copy to Mrs Scott's email psc@nudgee.qld.edu.au
An AARA application for illness/misadventure will be submitted on your behalf. The QCAA will decide if the application is approved and advise us. We will in turn let you know. If you have comprehensive medical evidence, your application will be approved.
Your medical certificate MUST provide detail regarding these aspects of your illness AND it MUST cover the date of the EA you miss.
Your medical certificate
MUST explicitly state your medical condition (Unfit for school or a Medical Condition will NOT suffice)
MUST state the date or dates of onset of the illness & this MUST coincide with the date of the EA(s) that you miss
MUST state the symptoms, treatment or course of action for your illness AND,
WHY, based on your medical condition, you cannot complete the EA (ie an explanation of the probable effects of your illness, condition or event on your participation in the assessment).
An illness and misadventure application should be submitted for any student who:
is unable to attend or attempt external assessment due to illness or misadventure
attends and completes external assessment, and considers their performance was significantly and adversely affected by illness or misadventure
begins external assessment but is forced to abandon it due to illness or misadventure.
If your car breaks down, seek a statement from RACQ or a mechanic.
If you have a minor accident, a police or insurance report should be sought.
Don't panic!
Get to the test venue - CBCC or MRC - as quickly & safely and as soon as you can.
Keep going - you need to get the EA - don't give up!
If you arrive within 40 minutes of the starting time - you will be permitted entry into the AARA room (CBCC Foyer or MRC small room adjacent to the meaning room) and you will be given the entire working time of the exam. If you arrive after PERUSAL or PLANNING time you will miss out on these and start working immediately. If you arrive during PERUSAL or PLANNING time you will be given whatever time is remaining for these plus all of the working time.
If you arrive after 40 minutes of the starting time - you will also be permitted entry into the AARA room (CBCC Foyer or MRC small room adjacent to the main room) and start working straight away. You will be permitted the entire working time.
Don't return home for these, we have spares of everything, we will hook you up with all essential equipment and a calculator if you need one
It is better to be on time and arrive safely and calmly.
Raise your hand and wait for a supervisor (one of our teachers) to come to you.
They will escort you to the bathroom or outside for some fresh air
The supervisor will monitor the time you are absent from the test venue
If you feel better and able to continue, you will head back into the AARA room and the supervisor will add the time taken to your finishing time.
If you cannot continue, we will arrange for you to be picked up by a parent or caregiver (day boys) or taken to the Health Centre (boarders).
You will then need to see a doctor and obtain a medical certificate or ask your doctor to complete the QCAA Medical Report (link below) PART B needs to be completed.
Make email contact with Mrs Scott psc@nudgee.qld.edu.au immediately.
We will need to lodge an AARA application for adjustments to the test conditions.
You will need to see a doctor to obtain a medical certificate/report (link below) Part A of the QCAA Medical Report needs to be completed
Mrs Scott will submit an AARA application to the QCAA for adjustments to the exam conditions.
If, after competing the exam with adjustments, you feel that your performance has suffered, we can submit the evidence - QCAA Medical Form - to the QCAA for them to consider a comparison between a derived result and the result you actually achieved. The best of these results is used
There is nothing we can do!
You will miss out on 25% or 50 % (Maths & Science subjects) of the subject grade. For ATAR eligible, students this will have a significant impact on your ATAR score!
You will also lose 2 QCE points because an NR will recorded for this assessment piece. An NR in your results means you have not fulfilled the requirements of the course.
Please set multiple alarms and enlist the help of family and or friends to ensure you make your EAs on time and without too much stress.
If you are running late - keep trying to make it to the exam, safely - we can accommodate you!
