The first tab - OVERVIEW - will provide information on:
subject summary
what you will learn about
how you will be assessed & the contributions of each assessment task
where the subject will lead you
From reviewing this tab you should know the contributions of the combined IAs and EAs to the subject's total
AND
The contribution - as a percentage - of each of the 4 assessment tasks to your subject total.
In GENERAL & EXTENSION subjects the SUBJECT TOTAL is a result out of 100.
The second tab - SYLLABUS - will provide you with a detailed copy of the syllabus.
A syllabus is a document that communicates information about an academic course or class and defines expectations and responsibilities.
Knowledge of the subject syllabus will be incredibly useful to you when you are devising a STUDY PLAN. It will inform you of the topics covered and what you need to know and be able to do in all of the assessments - particularly, the EAs.
The third tab - TEACHING & LEARNING - is extensive and extremely valuable to you!
It contains:
Subject Reports from previous years. These reports delve into what students did well in previous years - in each IA & EA - and they also identify deficits.
Identify the COGNITIVE VERBS used in the subject.
After reviewing, the TEACHING & LEARNING tab, you should have an excellent understanding regarding the expectations of the IAs and the EAs . You should be able to learn the lessons of the past and commit to improving your outcomes using this knowledge.
You should know the CV used in the subject and, consequently, understand how to respond to assessment so that you receive the best possible result.
The fourth tab, arguably, the most important - ASSESSMENT - is GOLD!
It contains:
IA assessment samples
Annotated IA work samples from high-achieving past students.
External Assessment past papers, including MARKING GUIDES.
After reviewing this tab, you should be aware of the assessment tasks that will be used in the subject.
AND
Know what a high-level response to the IA looks like.
AND
Be able to locate and complete past papers for the EA using the MARKING GUIDE to check your responses.
Don't even bother with the fifth tab!
