10/1/19 - APR (Academic Progress Report) is a new name for the previous Low Scholarship (LoScho) process. The goal of this process is to allow a teacher a means to notify a student, their parent(s)/guardian(s), department leader, adviser, and case manager (if applicable) that the student is improving or struggling in a class. At New Trier, the Technology Department supports the APR process by providing a customized process in PowerSchool since the district does not require the use of a common daily assignment gradebook.
This custom process in PowerSchool allows teachers to complete an APR form under the student’s PowerSchool record, notify the Department Leader for approval to send the form to the adviser for review. Once the adviser reviews the form and has a conversation with the student, the adviser can trigger an email to all parents/guardians of the student that contains the APR as a PDF attachment. Through the APR custom process, all data, feedback, and tracking over time happens in one consolidated system. This APR custom process officially replaces the eWork low scholarship process.
Teachers can review the APR instructions located here. Classroom teachers can access the APR form by clicking on a student’s name in their class list and choosing Academic Progress Report under the “Select Screen” drop-down menu.
Every Thursday, you will need to enter information to help our coaches, sponsors and directors know if students are academically eligible to participate. Not only is this a state requirement, it is an important way in which we help our students. None of this is possible, however, if they are unaware that a student is struggling. That is why entering this information is so important!
You should never enter a failing notice in eligibility without having also spoken with the student and completed an Academic Progress Report (APR) Notice.
Below are instructions explaining how to complete the eligibility check in PowerSchool. Here are two additional notes. First, even if no one is in jeopardy or failing in your class, it is important to click save at the bottom of the form so that we know that you have reviewed that class. Second, you will notice that the list of students is arranged by student ID number. We have requested a reconfiguration from PowerSchool that will change the list to be alphabetical and should have that change implemented soon.
Teachers now have the ability to run detailed reports for both 504 and IEPs. Please read the guide to learn how to access these reports.
