Why health and wellness for 1st - 2nd grade in physical education?
Health and wellness fit seamlessly together. It is important that young students learn about health concepts at an early age. Dietary habits begin to form from the child's first meal and dietary habits that can predict future obesity as early as age 1 (Nickel, 2015). This makes it important that students start to develop these healthy habits at a young age. Physical education class is the perfect opportunity for students to learn healthy habits in the form of physical activities. Introducing health concepts through fun, interactive activities allows more space for students to get enjoyment from their learning. This fun environment is the perfect place to foster healthy habit development to carry on for a lifetime of healthy living.
