Year 10 Work Experience is Back!

This year, Year 10 students will undertake a compulsory Work Experience placement, which will take place over 2 days: 23-24 June 2026. This is the perfect opportunity for students in Year 10 to discover what it is really like to experience the workplace and to try out jobs that they think they are interested in pursuing. It is expected that all students will complete the 2 day work experience.

All schools have a statutory duty to provide experience of the workplace for students under the age of 16. This can seem a very daunting prospect for our students but there is plenty of support available and they have 3 months to secure a placement with a company of their choice.

It will be the students’ responsibility to find and secure their own 2-day work placement and then set up a “placement” on Unifrog to record all the details. However, we are here to support them on this journey.

A special assembly was held on Monday 23 March to launch Year 10 Work Experience with students, so they are fully aware of the expectations surrounding this activity. In addition, if they have any questions or are struggling to find anything suitable, they need to come and speak with Miss Harle, the Careers Lead, who they can find in Clare building or speak with Mr Giles, Assistant Headteacher.

The school does have some connections and partnerships with companies in the local area so it may be able to help. Students need to come and speak to Miss Harle directly as it may be that the student just needs some encouragement and advice to guide them in the right direction; each student’s needs will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
