At Northampton School for Girls, we aim to ensure that all of our students receive the very best advice on their future, tailored to their individual needs. We recognise that whilst many of our students will continue their education at university, we also provide guidance on the local job market, apprenticeships/T-levels, which may be available to them, and information on international opportunities they may wish to explore in a gap year. We deliver our careers provision through local fairs and conventions; via PSHE; through the curriculum; with visits to universities; through seminars delivered by local employers; and via specialist/expert speakers. We also have an independent and impartial careers advisor who is happy to discuss options with individuals in a one-to-one meeting. We are resolutely committed to delivering an inclusive careers programme that ensures Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles are fully embedded, offering tailored support for all students, regardless of their starting points, needs, or vulnerabilities.
"Good career guidance is the key to social mobility: it is about showing young people—whatever their background—the full range of opportunities available to them, and helping them make the best choices for their future." – Sir John Holman, Gatsby Foundation
The NSG Careers Hub is designed to support both students and parents and to highlight the different pathways available to students at post 16 and beyond. The Hub has a wealth of information for all age ranges, along with information for parents and signposting to relevant agencies.
