Dear Parents,
Physical Education is the place where your student learns through movement! P.E. is a planned, sequential and developmentally appropriate K-5 curriculum that provides cognitive content and learning experiences using PHYSICAL ACTIVITY as the primary teaching tool.
Students are taught a variety of age appropriate motor skills designed to enhance their physical, mental and social-emotional development and growth.
Fitness education and assessment is provided to help children understand, improve and/or maintain their physical well-being. (Virtual assessment will be a new adventure. More details to come soon.)
Cognitive concepts about the how and why we move are taught, including the brain, muscles and bones. Other lessons focusing on healthy habits will also be incorporated.
Just a friendly reminder that our remote learning lessons can be located in the P.E. Google Classroom under the Classwork tab.Be sure to check out the RGS P.E. website for more information and ideas on how to be a physically literate family! It can be found on the Stream tab.
My goal for P.E. is for all students to become lifelong active adults with an appreciation for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Go Richmond Rams! 🐏
Be well and stay active,
Ms. Wirch
