At Roxboro Road Elementary School we are always encouraging our students to try their best, to never give up, to have perseverance while facing a difficult skill, task, game or activity. We are a PBIS school that strives to find the positive in others and encourage all our students to be role models while in our building, on the bus, and in the community. Below you will find some information about building a growth mindset and never giving up.
Videos to build a growth mindset:
"I have self-doubt. I have insecurity. I have fear of failure. I have nights when I show up at the arena and I'm like, 'My back hurts, my fee hurt, my knees hurt. I don't have it. I just want to chill.' We all have self-doubt. You don't deny it, but you also don't capitulate to it. You embrace it."
Kobe Bryant NBA Basketball Player
"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." Michael Jordan NBA Basketball Player
"With a defeat, when you lose, you get up, you make it better, you try again. That’s what I do in life, when I get down, when I get sick, I don’t want to just stop. I keep going and I try to do more. Everyone always says never give up but you really have to take that to heart and really do never definitely give up. Keep trying. "
Serena Williams Professional Tennis Player
"Don't under-estimate yourself. You are more than capable than you think. KEEP WORKING. DON'T GIVE UP."

"There may be people that have more talent than you. But there's no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do."
