Supporting your child at home

The resources and activities listed on this website have been developed to extend prior learning and engage students during this period of school closure. In addition to these resources, we have additional suggestions on how to support your child's education at home.

First grade readers could be:

• listening to books
  -parents reading aloud to their children
  -listening to audio books (Raz-Kids, Bookflix, Storyline, epic) -see links below

• Word Work/Study: (iRead, Readwritethink)
  -Rhyming, Sight words, Syllables
  -Word families: short and long vowels, create

• practicing reading and writing on their own every day

• speaking and writing about characters, setting, beginning, middle & end, problem & solution, and making connections

• retelling stories and informational text using details.

• writing a daily journal or use prompts from Journal Buddies
