Hello! Thank you for deciding to read my "About Me" page.
The 2023-2024 school year will mark my 16th year of full time teaching and my ninth year at North Syracuse Junior High School. This will mark my 21st year overall working in education.
Over the course of my career I have taught: Global History, Global History Honors, 7th grade American History, World History, American History, AP US History, IB History of the Americas, World Geography, American Government, and Economics.
I grew up in Central New York and attended Central Square Schools. After High School I attended Niagara University, where I earned a Bachelors of Arts in Secondary Social Studies (7-12) and a Masters in School Counseling.
One of my lifelong passions outside the classroom is basketball. Prior to returning to Central New York, in addition to teaching, I served as a High School Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and then as a Division 1 Junior College men's assistant basketball coach. While at Niagara University I was also a member of the Men's Basketball staff---during my final two years we reached the 2004 NIT and 2005 NCAA. During the 2017-2018 I also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the JV girls basketball team at CNS---we finished the season undefeated with a record of 20-0!
My newest passions are serving as the co-advisor for the NSJHS Positivity Project and training my new border collie puppy, MinnySota, in agility and other dog sports.
My "why" for becoming a teacher was a desire to "empower students with the power of positivity" and build life-long learners who are contributing members to society. I look forward to working with every student to help them develop the skills to be successful in any undertaking.
Coaching.
