Selection, Circulation, and Replacement Policies

Selection Policy

The school librarians of Northborough and Southborough have created a selection policy for library books and materials. Feel free to contact Mrs. Kelsey should you have any questions about collection development for the Peaslee Library.

Circulation Policy

Generally, lower wing students check out books for a one-week period; upper wing students for two weeks. Special arrangements can be made for books borrowed for a school project. Borrowing guidelines for each grade level are as follows:

K: one book borrowed/due each week

Gr. 1: one book borrowed/due each week

Gr. 2: two books borrowed/due each week

Gr. 3: three books allowed for 2 weeks

Gr. 4: four books allowed for 2 weeks

Gr. 5: four books allowed for 2 weeks

Replacement Policy

If a book is truly lost, or damaged beyond repair, there will be a replacement fee (which varies depending on the type of book). In terms of lost items, several reminder notices are sent home during the year, and we will not ask for this fee until the end of the school year, when it is clear that the book is lost. We recommend you check under and behind furniture, as well as in your child’s classroom library. More often than not the book does turn up!
