ELA will focus on helping students develop stronger skills in the four major facets of language: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This will include practice with grammar, critical thinking, vocabulary-building, literary analysis, public speaking, and use of the writing process across a wide range of forms and genres. Our readings as a class will be focused on world literature, including work connected to the Ancient Cultures Social Studies curriculum.
Social Studies: Ancient World Cultures and History
In Ancient Cultures & History, students will explore the major events, trends and figures of ancient civilizations across the continents. Students will be encouraged to make ongoing connections between the ancient past and current society. Like ELA, Grade 7 Social Studies will provide ongoing practice in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Students will also be introduced to methods of basic historical research and work to master important social studies vocabulary related to history, geography, and the study of cultures.
