Scheduling at Home: Helpful Tips & Reminders
The recommendation is that each student spend 2-3 hours a day on school work. It is also recommended that each student engage in 30 minutes of physical activity each day and that any student enrolled in Band be practicing their instrument daily. We have provided a suggested schedule for you, below. Please feel free to adjust this schedule to meet the unique needs in your household.
It is often helpful for a student to start with their hardest subject first. Thus, you may want to rearrange the actual subject matter, but keep the time frame.
You know your child well, so you may need to build breaks into their day. Remember, this is a suggestion from which to build. You are encouraged to think creatively and make adjustments to best suit your child!
Engaging with Remote Learning will not be the same as learning in a classroom. Students can do work outside, or in a fort, or on the couch! The goal is for students to be engaged and learning, not to feel stressed or overwhelmed.
You will see “Tutorial” on the schedule. This is a time for students to complete assignments from earlier in the week if they ran out of time, to complete assignments from specialists like Mrs. Labbe, Mrs. Goldstein, Ms. Suduiko, or to work on extension activities. In school, we often devoted part of this time for reading and reading would still be a good idea during this time.
