Back to School with Design ThinkingFor the last few years I have end the school year with a Design Thinking project that has always been a positive experience and leaves me eager to try more design thinking projects. So it occurred to me, why not kick of a PD workshop prior to the start of school with some concrete examples for teachers to try while learning about Design Thinking!
Workshop Description - Back to School with Design ThinkingThursday, August 22nd at Nashoba Regional High School Time: 8:30-11:30 workshop / (want more, then lab time 12:00-2:00, your choice) Sometimes professional development feels like a chore or an obligation and does little to foster the creative side of teachers according to the Stanford/K12 Lab. When using Design Thinking teachers will have a new framework to teach in ways that allow for real-world projects and experiences where creative problem-solving matters most. Since doing beats talking, you will be exposed to activities to test out the first week of school as icebreakers along with learning about the Design Thinking. An example is the Spaghetti Marshmallow Change, the activity, which is planned to run 30-45 minutes gives groups of students and opportunity to build together. Many of these recipe examples can them be translated to content projects.
This party, I mean workshop will help you get your creative ideas going as you return to school! Still not sure? Link here for additional resources on Design Thinking!
