READING SUGGESTIONS

SUGGESTED WEBCOMICS

Stand Still Stay Silent

Stand Still, Stay Silent is a Finnish-Swedish webcomic started by Minna Sundberg in 2013. Set in post-apocalyptic Scandinavia, the webcomic incorporates Nordic mythology, focusing on an adventure into the external "silent world".

Spacetrawer

Interplanetary Amity is a galactic vigilante fighting force intent on freeing the Eebs, an enslaved, but technologically intelligent race. One Amity ship, the S. S. Starbanger, abducts six humans in their quest.

Blindsprings

A lost princess named Tamaura survives a revolution by making a deal with the Spirits of the forest. Pledged to them for three hundred years, the princess is about to fulfill her pact when a young man finds her and that she is meant to be saved, whether she likes it or not. His "rescue" pulls Tamaura out of her timeless sanctuary and into a world that advanced hundreds of years without her...where a civil war is brewing over the same magic that flows through her veins.

The Creepy Casefiles of Margo Maloo

A fresh and funny take on the age-old battle between kids and closet-dwelling monsters.

The Delilah Dirk Saga

Lovable ne'er-do-well Delilah Dirk is an Indiana Jones for the 19th century. She has traveled to Japan, Indonesia, France, and even the New World. Using the skills she's picked up on the way, Delilah's adventures continue as she plots to rob a rich and corrupt Sultan in Constantinople.

Dinosaur Comics

This comic centers on three main characters, T-Rex, Utahraptor and Dromiceiomimus. Every strip uses the same artwork and panel layout; only the dialogue changes. Sometimes philosophical and sometimes crass, full of allusions and unconventional humor, it's recommended for 12th grade and up.

Bird and Moon: Science and Nature Comics

Delightful and quirky comics by a passionate and knowledgeable naturalist and science writer, Rosemary Mosco. There is no plot; just read a few.

Witchy

This beautifully illustrated webcomic takes place in the magical world of Hyalin, where witches’ magic depends on the length of their hair and where revealing one’s power can be perilous. It's been ongoing since 2014; you can see the artist's style develop.

O Human Star

Alastair Sterling was the inventor who sparked the robot revolution, and because of his sudden death he didn't see any of it. That is, until he wakes up in a robot body that matches his old one exactly. Until he steps outside and finds a world utterly unlike the one he left behind.

Line Web Toon

Webtoons are a type of digital comic that originated in South Korea. This site collects many webtoons, often created by independent artists. The quality and content vary greatly, so I recommend looking at the most popular lists for teenage readers.
