Safe Station / Safe Places per the Youth Service Bureau:
This past summer The Youth Service Bureau has added mobile apparatus for all fire departments and fire territories in St. Joseph County (see attachment above) so including New Carlisle Fire Territory and Warren Township Fire Dept. Stations with their #1 station on Quince Road. If a youth spots the Safe Place window decal located on one of the mobile units and requests help, that unit places themselves on ‘Citizen Assist’ status until we can reach the youth to intervene. The unit remains with the youth until we arrive. If a longer than anticipated delay might occur before we can make the drive to reach the mobile unit – esp. to New Carlisle, Walkerton, North Liberty or Lakeville, then we will reach out to local or county law enforcement to respond and transport the youth to Safe Station so the mobile apparatus can get placed back into service.
