Generative AI* is a type of artificial intelligence that can create new content, such as text, images, or music. It does this by learning from a large amount of existing data. For example, a generative AI model that can generate text might be trained on a dataset of books, articles, and other written material. Once it has been trained, the model can then generate new text that is similar to the data it was trained on.
Large Language Models* (LLMs) are a type of artificial intelligence that have been trained on a vast amount of text data. They learn patterns in the data and use this knowledge to generate human-like text. They analyze the input they’re given, and predict what should come next based on what they’ve seen in their training data. While LLMs can generate very human-like text, they don’t understand text in the way humans do. They’re simply predicting what comes next based on patterns they’ve seen in their training data.
A chatbot* is a computer program that can talk to people through text or voice. Chatbots can help people find information, answer questions, and do tasks without human help. Chatbots can be used for different purposes, such as customer service, education, entertainment, and more. Some chatbots are simple and only follow a script. They can only respond to certain keywords or phrases. Other chatbots are more advanced and use artificial intelligence (AI) to understand natural language and learn from conversations. They can handle complex questions and give more personalized responses.
LLM chatbots include ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot.
