Announcements

Here, you will find information on upcoming events both in the community and in the school, which are related to the NPSD School Counseling Program's vision and mission statements.

Check back regularly for updates!

The North Pocono School District is happy to announce the start of our PBIS programming for the 2023-2024 school year. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and supports, and is a new program we will be using in our school this year. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework for supporting whole school settings to promote a safe school environment. This happens by supporting social, learning, behaviorial, and emotional needs of all students both with and without individualized education programs (IEPs).

Stay tuned for more PBIS updates to come!

Looking for fun ways to keep your kids engaged while at home?

Head on over to my "Parents Resources" page for some ideas!

Back to School time is here and with it, comes a lot of excitement, for most. However, for some of our students, it is a time of worry and nervousness that is usually perfectly normal. For those of you who are concerned, I have included an article from my counseling guru, Counselor Keri. In her post, she speaks about 8 Tips for Helping Kids with Separation Anxiety

As always, please feel free to call or e-mail me if you have any questions or further concerns!

February 5-9, 2024 is National School Counseling Week!

Happy NSCW! Unlike Teacher Appreciation Week, where we celebrate the awesome teachers in our lives, with goodies, letters of appreciation, and the like, National School Counseling Week is more geared towards educating parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, administration, and other school personnel on the role of the school counselor and advocating for our profession. Every year there is a theme to promote our counseling program as outlined by the American School Counselor Association (or ASCA).

This year, ASCA's theme is "Helping Students Dream Big". Each day, I will be speaking with teachers, administration, and students about a different theme and a way that I can provide help or support to each of them. We will talk about lessons learned, lessons shared, setting goals, and a school counselor's role in their education. Please know that my door and phone are always open and available for any family member to contact me. I am so proud to be your child's school counselor.

Please refer to my counseling website for my contact information, curriculum, useful tips and resources.
